How to Stop the Fire From Spreading 

  • If you are angry

    Do not respond immediately. Put down the device, move away from the conversation and give yourself time to cool down. 

    Write the response without sending it, then read it again later. You may decide it does not need to be posted at all. 

  • If someone is targeting you

    Avoid arguing back while emotions are high. Save screenshots, block or mute the person and tell a trusted adult. 

    Use the platform’s reporting tools when messages include harassment, threats or repeated unwanted contact. 

  • If you see it happening

    Do not like, share or add another angry comment. Supporting the target privately can be more helpful than joining the public argument. 

    Report harmful content and ask a trusted adult for help when the situation is serious.
